Strategies to Prepare & Protect the Pelvic Floor during childbirth & common Postpartum challenges
April 20 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Dr Jenni Gabelsberg is a pelvic health physical therapist of 27 years. She is a senior faculty instructor for Herman Wallace Pelvic Rehab Institute, where she lectures on pelvic and OB challenges to physical and occupational therapists nationwide. She recently returned from teaching physiotherapists for two weeks at the Kenya Medical Training College in Nairobi, where she hopes to help impact the quality of care also on an international level. She owns two pelvic health physical therapy clinics in southern California, her flagship location for the past 21 years in Torrance, and a satellite location for the past three years in Long Beach. She mentors her 14 clinical staff, as well as being the Residency Coordinator for a year long pelvic health residency at her clinic (one of 12 pelvic health residencies in the US). She recently was accepted to be on a Legislative Task Force working with a Congresswoman from Washington state on a Prenatal and Fourth Trimester Bill, to require insurance companies to pay for both prenatal and postpartum PT care for all individuals who go through pregnancy and birth. That group also was asked to review and comment on the Military Moms Matter Bill that is currently being considered in the house. Dr Gabelsberg’s passion lies in pelvic health, but her deepest love comes in taking care of pregnant and postpartum folks. As a mom of three herself, she understands the challenges that pregnancy and birth place on a person, both as a long time PT as well as a mother. She used a doula at all three of her births, and thinks that doulas are an essential part of birth support that all moms deserve to have.
